Life is hard - Home is soft
The body is universal, yet the modern world alienates
it. We are creating a system for softening the concrete
shell of the apartment to fit any of our bodies. The
basic daily rituals - bathe, cook, eat, work, rest -
form the landscape of home. We experience them in the
morning, before we leave, and again at night, before
we sleep. Hence the bed plateau looks out over sunrise
and fresh morning air. The soft clean bed slowly pushes
us to face the day. Following the sun, we wash our face
at a washbasin next to the bed. The warm water trickles
into a bath, waiting for us to follow. The first movements
are slow and soft to acquaint the body with the world.
From the soft fabric of the bed, we slide along silicone
rubber into a contoured tub. Here the body starts to
stretch, bend, sit up. Fresh and clean we stand, for
the first time, and begin to look around. On the wall
images of our favorite information start appearing.
As we walk to the kitchen the images follow, helping
us to know the coming day. The kitchen wakes up too;
stove and sink arrange themselves to rest under our
fingertips. We cook and our countertop follows us back
into the sunlit space, where eating ushers in the productive
day. Desk and drawers also spring into action, offering
the perfect surface to begin our work. As the sun leaves
the plateau for the kitchen valley, our day slowly draws
to a close and the same spaces are revisited to prepare
us for sleep, and the next day.
M . : . Utopic ideas are found
here. It is important that new environment is presented
within the current environment. It seems that the kitchen
and bathroom area can become a project. This drawing
work can easily be adapted into the actual product at
any moment.
I : . Even if this work becomes an actual product,
there is room for practical use. Also, the presentation
itself is very outstanding.
K : . This work has solved the problems of
'detachment from nature' which had always remained as
an unsolvable question in collective houses(apartments).
P : :. The perfect naturalism is similar to
a complete nudity. |
