I/O HOUSE
With the parents more focused on their careers, the child
has become increasingly responsible and focused on developing
tools toward his/her own educational career. Today's competitive
environment is spawning a new era of technology and tools
to respond to these changes.
'I/O' is generally considered a technology term meaning
'Input/Output.' This relationship describes the exchange
of ideas and things whether they be 'bits & bytes'
or conversation. We also extend the meaning of I/O to
"Inside/Outside" that not only question the
distinction between 'enclosure' and 'enclosed,' but the
threshold between these spaces. THE KITCHEN. The sharing
of food is traditionally central to the Chinese homelife.
The kitchen, we argue, is the new center of the house,
rather the living room of yesterday. As such, the kitchen
in this proposal becomes the intersection of all paths
and source of sharing; not only of food but sharing
of one's day at either work or school.
