1. the grass house
Initially it began from earth. There were at least two
surfaces, those are natural one and artificial one.
But now we have only artificial surface in our housing.
Why do we cling to walls which are vertical surfaces?
(Why do we decorate only walls?) In this case, by concentrating
on floors I am going to examine and broaden the diversity
of the field. And by introducing planting which is always
hesitating on the outside into the interior, I am going
to remind the meaning of naturally symbiotic environment.
"Earth meets sky smoothly."
2. the grass house & sunken rooms
Making lower sunken areas on a floor is how to make
primitive safe life area from outer enemy. But, in the
era of electronic equipment doing that is how to organize
life with nature in geographical method. It resembles
the conceptual aspects of the sunken court cave dwellings
in Quian Lian, Henan province of China or the ground
conditions of primitive dwellings in Am-sa of Korea.
There are two prominent layers, grass and room, and
a kitchen is located between them. The kitchen associate
the areas on movement and function between common area
and private area.
3. nature
In the electronic media age, the nature looks like a
mountain which is background of paintings and pictures.
Sometimes it substituted by one image which can't exists
any longer if the electrical power were down. We cannot
touch and breathe with it. As the roll of media becomes
larger and more digitalized, we might stand far and
far from the nature which was delivered of us. Natural
things are more essential to us.
4. media & nature
Sometimes nature plays a role to intermediate invisible
phenomena surrounding us. When the phenomena continue,
we remind our lives. What does grass on a room mean?
We run parallel with nature through urban lives. In
this case, some parts of modified media have some close
connection with nature. Those are required to live with
nature in a city. The fatal problem of indoor planting
is partial lack of light. In this project, to overcome
the problem light is supplied by optical fiber lighting
using sunlight. The popping 'media grass' on a weedy
ground access networks and electronic machinery through
simple operation.
5. flexibilities & furniture
If flexibility was applied every furniture of systems,
it would be a little uneconomical. It is rare for the
flexibility to occurs every day. Actually it happens
once or twice in years. Does flexibility hold good on
economical theory? If flexibility is obtained by the
smallest arrangement shift, it is successful. Parent's
and child's rooms are large part for various activities.
The independent and quiet room under living room is
for reading or home office. When independent space is
required for the child, the large room is divided into
two by installing partitioning furniture. When the child
grows up and independent space is required, the room
under living room could be the child's and the parents
area will be larger. Shelve and the physical server
of media systems will be located under the kitchen.
