By nature,
the concept of an apartment furthers the loss of individuality.
Every apartment unit is produced identically to the
next. The result is continual rows and columns forming
a single building. The environment created fails to
allow for creativity that results from the inherent
differences in people. Our solution utilizes the efficiency
of identical units, yet realizes that only its inhabitants
can truly make it a home.
This solution offers custom apartments for each individual.
However, it can be mass-produced by the economical machine
it rebels against. Produced in a factory, similar to
an automobile plant, each unit comes folded in a train
barge sized container. Easily shipped onto site, it
can be inserted into the structural frame of the complex
and expanded into a livable space. The owner can then
customize each wall and partition to his wishes, making
a home for himself.
