Scenario
An apartment building, in which apartments are arranged
in a row. The building structure is a grid of large
pillars (of which four are effecting each apartment),
a connecting corridor as the main access to the apartments
and one major facade to each row for natural light and
air.
Design concept
The sequence of activities and paths needed throughout
the day changes, while service and activity spaces should
not interfere. The basic idea is to create compact,
flexible and dynamic spaces in which one can measure
and manipulate its scale and views, opened and closed
space relationships, contents and atmosphere, depending
on the different activity and its requirements. And
at each, enjoy different aspects of the given space,
much like a modern version of the traditional Japanese
houses.
